Maui Coast Hotel Adds VW Electric Shuttle

Getting around Kihei has never been simpler...or easier to spot.
Maui Coast Hotel has just added two brand new Volkswagon ID Buzz electric vans as complimentary shuttles for its guests. The Pomelo Yellow Metallic vans, adorned with a retro flower power motif, are already wizzing riders around the neigborhood from Maui Gardens to the Shops at Wailea. The vans travel in a three-mile radius of the hotel and are available every day between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Guests can request a van either by visiting the the hotel lobby, or by texting the driver directly.
Maui Coast Hotel's general manager, Norm Hwa, said that the feedback he's gotten about the hard-to-miss VW vans has been fun to hear. "People will tell me all the places they've seen them and that the vans always bring a smile to their face," he said "And our guests love them too...so much in fact that we're adding two more to our fleet at the end of 2025."
Hwa said that the ease of not having to take a car out and then find parking is a big part of what makes the vans so popular. "The design is just a bonus and has become a really fun part of our brand," he said. "It's also important that they're environmentally friendly. We're always looking for ways to take better care of our island and the planet."
